I wasn't sure I would like this book when I began reading - CIA spies and Navy Seal operations, however, are my cup to tea. And this novel delivers in spades. I've traveled in the Near East so most locations were familiar to me. I liked the two MCs as well. And the writing moved the action along at a good pace. One thing I really liked was there was no pretense at needing condoms. Given the two MCs professions, routine health tests and checks would be de rigeuer so the sex was free of impediments nor was there any hesitation of the parts of the MCs on what they wanted to do or how. While safer sex is most likely included in MM books for "educational" and PC points, many times the characters include so many different sexual acts that condoms at the final anal intercourse scene seem to be a rather faint attempt at being "safe." Besides any responsible sexually active gay man today would be tested routinely and have a PrEP prescription. So kudos to this author for being realistic. I liked the characters and plot of this book. A well written thriller about two former friends and lovers. They reconnect after 10 years and must overcome several tense obstacles as well as trying to work out their own personal issues. I liked the suspense and action but the "love " scenes were over done in my opinion, the romance was find but too much detail that did not add to the over all story line.
