Ebook About In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself. When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.After giving himself wholly to the job for ten years, Crew Vega was done. He’d fulfilled his commitment, done his duty, gone above and beyond to settle the score. And the score was high. All he had to do was train his replacements and he’d be out for good. He had a plan, one that didn’t include getting involved with his new neighbor, a woman who not only kept cows for pets, but treasured her employees as family, and understood him better than anyone ever had before. But when he learned a high level CIA target being investigated for treason was keeping tabs on her? No, he never planned on that. And like everything Crew Vega did in life, when he goes in, he’s all in. Warning: I’m a devout member of the mama club and don’t want to get kicked out by angry mamas. If you aren’t eighteen, turn around, go drink your milk and eat your veggies, it’s good for your bones. And go to bed early, you’re still growing, your body needs sleep. And don’t text and drive. And be nice, sit with the kid who sits alone at lunch. And read a PG-13 book, it’s good for your brain. And go tell your mama you love her. Chop-chop, run along now. I’ll see you back when you’re eligible to vote.Book Vines (The Killers Book 1) Review :
3.5 starsAddy is starting over in Virginia. Her mother passed not too long ago, and in looking for something different, she happens upon a vineyard. She needs a project and a way to keep her mind busy. So, she buys it and a,omg with the employees, vines ave cows, forges a new, quiet life. However, that peace quickly leaves once she meets her new neighbor, Crew.Crew is ex-government. He was a cop but moved to special fir ES shortly after his dad died in the line of fire. He’s very serious about honor, respect and taking out the bad guys. He’s also in the works of turning over a new leaf too, way out in the Virginia countryside. He meets his neighbor and is intrigued but nothing more. He can’t have any distractions and Addy would definitely be one. Things change, however, when he does a full background check on her and finds things that he’s sure she wanted to keep hidden. He also finds out that he’s not the only one looking into her past. What happens next is Crew invading her space, making his presence known to protect her. I get it. He likes her and doesn’t want her hurt but he’s pushy to the point of looking crazy and stalkerish. I like that the author allows Addy to call him out on his ways and doesn’t automatically say ‘how high’ when he yells ‘jump’. She pushes right back and you can tell he’s not used to it.Even with my annoyance at Crew most of the time, his concern comes from a good place and that is ultimately why I enjoyed the book. Addy and Crew are good together and for each other and I’m now more excited than ever to read about Grady. I don't know why I am surprised at this point that Brynne Asher has nailed another awesome book. I'm actually getting sad because I only have one other book of hers I haven't read yet and then I'll be waiting like everyone else for her to publish a new book. *sigh* Waiting for a book to publish by a highly anticipated author is complete and utter torture. Why do I love her books so much? Let me count the ways. 1st and the most important are her Alphas. I love her Alpha men. They are manly men with a bit of cavemen tendencies that are also very sweet and protective to their heroines. This is like crack to me and makes me a greedy person. Give me more!2nd, her books are mature. Men acting like men and women acting like women. No babyish behavior. Her characters act like actual grown ups!3rd, her heroines do not annoy me. I actually respect them. Sadly this is hard to find.4th, Brynne writes a lot of really good side characters in her series that brighten the story line. The more characters you make me fall in love with the more I enjoy the books. Plus so much potential for additional series.5th, The cows! Yes, you are reading that correctly. The cows have a part in this book and it's funny. I love them!I promise you will fall hard for Crew and Addy. They are every bit of what I mention above. I will for sure be re-reading this book in the near future.
