Ebook About Everything in Emery Hazard’s life is finally going well: his boyfriend, Nico, is crazy about him; he has a loyal partner at work; and he has successfully closed a series of difficult murders. By all accounts, he should be happy. What he can’t figure out, then, is why he’s so damn miserable. After a fight with Nico, Hazard needs work to take his mind off his relationship. And someone in town is happy to oblige by murdering the sheriff. The job won’t be easy; the sheriff had enemies, lots of them, and narrowing down the list of suspects will be difficult. Difficult, but routine. The arrival of a special prosecutor, however, throws the case into turmoil, and Hazard and Somers find themselves sidelined. With an agenda of his own, the prosecutor forces the case toward his favorite suspect, while Hazard and Somers scramble to find the real killer. As the people they care about are drawn into the chaos, Hazard and Somers have to fight to keep what they love--and to keep each other. To find the killer, they will have to reveal what each has kept buried for years: their feelings for each other. And for Hazard, that’s a hell of a lot scarier than murder.Book Guilt by Association (Hazard and Somerset Book 4) Review :
I am still on the fence as to whether I even like this series. There were a few times I wanted to throw my iPad across the room because I got so frustrated with the way Somers and Hazard dance around damn near everything. But the mysteries still pull me in. Now I just have to figure out if I can handle reading the next one. Things are different at the end of this book, but I know it doesn’t mean that the reading will get any easier. At book four in the series our MCs are dealing with a murder investigation where they”vet been sidelined by an out of town special prosecutor. They are also dealing with the feelings for each other that they are now really having a hard time ignoring, which impacts their investigation into the murder of the sheriff.Hazard and Nico’s relationship is on the rocks...the book begins with Hazard thinking to himself that he needs to break up with him. I was delighted to read this as I haven’t liked Nico since book one. But Hazard’s lousy relationship history and his inability to communicate honestly with Somers interferes with his decision making.Somers is dealing with his rocky relationship with his wife and his continually growing feelings for Hazard but he too has an inability to communicate honestly. The old romance trope of each partner believing the other doesn’t haven’t feelings for them is really stretched taught here.Add to this a suspicious special prosecutor and a police chief who is wispy washy and a crooked cop they still can’t do anything about and a mayor they know is dirty and things snowball. The mystery is intriguing and the final reveal feels like an old British mystery. But, just like in book three it’s “but wait! There’s more!” And once again our MCs are nearly killed and once again we’re in a hospital. After four books I seriously hope the health insurance for this police department is a great plan!At the end of the book we finally get the payoff we have been waiting for since book one. (Not a spoiler if you’ve read all the book blurbs!) It’s about damn time! Watching how this progresses should be interesting. I’ve binge read this whole series so I am immediately on to book five now!
